Robotic surgery

Our renowned ÂÜÀòÉç surgeons are able to offer patients additional robot-assisted surgical options. Using the da Vinci S Robotic Surgery System, our skilled surgeons can bring the latest technology to enhance your surgery and provide you with the best possible outcome.
The da Vinci S uses four robotic arms that insert surgical instruments into tiny incisions less than the size of a dime. The surgeon is in complete control of the system and guides the surgical instruments by watching the area on a high definition monitor. With instruments that provide better dexterity and range of motion than the human hand, the surgeon gains greater control and precision than found in traditional open operations and some laparoscopic procedures.
Patients benefit by having more options for minimally invasive procedures — many not performed elsewhere in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. At ÂÜÀòÉç Jacksonville our University of Florida surgeons can perform the following operations using the da Vinci S:
- Adrenal gland removal (adrenalectomy)
- Anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication)
- Cardiac surgery
- Cholecystectomy
- Cystoprostatectomy
- Heller myotomy to treat achalasia
- Gastrectomy
- Hysterectomy
- Myomectomy
- Kidney removal (nephrectomy)
- Pancreatectomy
- Prostatectomy
- Pulmonary lobectomy
- Small intestine, colon and rectum resection surgery
- Splenectomy
- Thoracic (chest) surgery
Your physician can refer you to a surgeon at ÂÜÀòÉç Jacksonville to see if robotic assisted surgery is right for you.

Clinical Trials: Robotic surgery
ÂÜÀòÉç research scientists make medicine better every day. They discover new ways to help people by running clinical trials. When you join a clinical trial, you can get advanced medical care. Sometimes years before it's available everywhere. You can also help make medicine better for everyone else. If you'd like to learn more about clinical trials, visit our clinical trials page.
