If a patient's treatment includes mastectomy — surgical removal of one or both breasts — the physicians of ÂÜÀòÉç Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery are skilled in reconstructing the removed breast.

Frequently, reconstruction is possible immediately following breast removal, so the patient wakes up with a breast mound already in place, having been spared the experience of seeing herself with no breast at all.

Breast reconstruction: Types

Our ÂÜÀòÉç plastic surgeons offer several types of breast reconstruction:

  • Tissue expander/implant reconstruction
  • Autologous tissue reconstruction (using the patient's own tissue) that might use a latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap or a transverse rectus abdominus myocutaneous (TRAM) flap
