Theresa Williamson Honored with DAISY Award

Recognized for exceptional care and compassion

Daisy Award Winner: Theresa Williamson

Congratulations to quarterly DAISY Award® winner Theresa Williamson, BSN, RN, who works at ÂÜÀòÉç North, 3 North Tower A Intensive Care Unit. Williamson was selected for her exceptional care and compassion during a very difficult time for a family.

When a patient suffered a cardiac arrest, and the situation was critical, Williamson took the time to recognize the needs of the family and the patient’s 7-year-old child amidst the chaos of the ICU. She gathered coloring pages and drinks, thus creating a comforting environment. Her ability to balance patient care with kindness truly exemplifies the qualities of a DAISY nurse.

The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that was established by the Barnes family in 1999 to honor their son Patrick who died from an autoimmune disease. The family also wanted to thank the nurses who cared for him during his hospitalization and create a system for others to celebrate nurses for the exceptional care they deliver every day. DAISY is an acronym that stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.

As a DAISY Award hospital partner, ÂÜÀòÉç Jacksonville recognizes three nurses or teams of nurses with this special honor every quarter. Nominations are reviewed by a ÂÜÀòÉç Jacksonville committee of nurse managers, nurse education specialists, and clinical quality nurse leaders.
