Faculty and resident physicians recognized by DCMS
Several faculty and resident physicians at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville were recently recognized during the 2020 Duval County Medical Society’s Annual Meeting & Future of Healthcare Conference.
Faculty winners
- , an assistant professor of , won the Philip H. Gilbert Young Physicians Leadership Award. She is director of the and associate medical director of pediatric emergency medicine at ÂÜÀòÉç Jacksonville.
- , a professor and associate chair of , won the John A. Beals Award for Original Investigation for his research on vision loss among patients with diabetic macular edema.
- , a professor of emergency medicine and , won the John A. Beals Award for Review for her work on assessing and managing acute bronchiolitis in the emergency department.
- , an associate professor of and senior associate dean for educational affairs; and , a professor of emergency medicine and senior associate dean for hospital affairs, were recognized as new lifetime members of the Duval County Medical Society. Vukich is a past president of the society.
Resident and student winners
- Steven Chadwick, DO, an resident, won the G. Shahin Award for Clinical Observation for his work on cerebral venous thrombosis.
- Monique Oye, DO, an resident, won first place among research posters for her work on improving the safety of bedside paracentesis.
- Kristin Smith, a medical student at the University of Florida, won third place among research posters for her work on sepsis readmissions. She was mentored by the emergency medicine sepsis research team at the ÂÜÀòÉç College of Medicine – Jacksonville.
